Reclusive Bengali screen goddess Suchitra Sen, who had bewitched generations of filmbuffs with her grace and beauty, died at a Kolkata nursing home on Friday following a massive cardiac arrest, attending doctor Subir Mondal said.
The 82-year old actress, under treatment at the Belle Vue Clnic for the last 26 days following serious respiratory problems, breathed her last at 8.25 a.m., Mondal told us.
A widow, Suchitra left behind her daughter Moon Moon and grand daughters Riya and Raima – all three having taken up acting as a career.
Beginning her career with the Bengali film ‘Shesh Kothai’ in 1952, Suchitra Sen went on to receive a National Award for her performance in the 1955 Hindi film ‘Devdas’. Read More on MSN
